Stay is a two-hander musical; a witty and poignant exploration of love, grief and mental health, and the show that marked our first professional collaboration.
The show follows Rowan, an English teacher, and Kit, an NHS nurse. As ex-fiancés, they stand at the edge of a park pond, an urn in hand. They have unresolved history and four years of silence between them. After a botched scattering ceremony, Rowan goes to leave, but Kit persuades them to stay and reminisce.

The team of the original 2021 workshop at Dundee Rep
We began writing the show in 2021, after being awarded the Bruce Millar Graduate Fellowship from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. With additional support from Dundee Rep, we held a two-week workshop with Melanie Bell as the director, and Ewan Black and Daisy Ann Fletcher as Rowan and Kit, respectively.
In October 2023, the musical premiered at Òran Mór in Glasgow and at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh as part of A Play, a Pie and a Pint, with Craig Hunter taking over the role of Rowan. Later that year, the title song was also nominated for the Stiles and Drewe Best New Song Prize, the video for which can be found below.
