In 2024, we were lucky enough to be in the cohort for a musical theatre writing residency at Cove Park, Helensburgh, supported by Dundee Rep.
It was here where we first put pen to paper.
We spent two weeks in our own private accommodation, amongst hills and highland coos, coming up with first ideas for the music and narrative.
Bonnybridge is a 90s, queer, coming-of-age, sci-fi comedy musical that we are currently writing and developing. Throughout the 1990s, this titular Scottish village was the UFO hotspot of the world, with over 300+ sightings a year.
When we first had the idea to make this global phenomenon into a musical, we went and visited the village (just outside of Falkirk) to talk to some of the locals and get some inspiration.
